Yavapai Exploration and Science, also known as YES, has opened a new permanent location in Prescott. The nonprofit provides hands-on STEAM education for families throughout Yavapai County. STEAM focuses on science, technology, engineering, art, and math while encouraging children to explore, experiment, and learn through play.
The new Yavapai Exploration and Science location includes a children’s museum designed primarily for children ages zero to five. Families can enjoy educational toys, sensory activities, art projects, and rotating monthly themes. In addition, YES offers STEAM labs for children ages five to 12. The organization also provides birthday parties, rental space, and other educational programs for local families.

Meanwhile, the new building gives YES more room to grow. Previously, supplies and educational materials had to be stored and moved between different locations. Now, those resources are available in one place. That allows children to experience more hands-on activities while giving the organization additional opportunities to develop new classes and programs.
YES is also working to expand opportunities for homeschool families and is an ESA vendor. Families can visit the center at 530 South Montezuma Street in Prescott. Walk-in admission to the children’s museum is available, along with punch cards and annual memberships. Volunteers, community sponsors, and people interested in sharing their skills through STEAM activities are also encouraged to get involved.
